Events at a glance
Saturday 18th June - Chepstow
Darren Hawkins is arranging a trip to Chepstow on the 18th June. Fairly informal but a great way to get some dives in in a nice controlled environment.
The guys are meeting from about 9am onwards and would love it if you would care to join them. Diving from 8m to 80m (yes really!)
£15 for the day and the viz is usually pretty good. There is plenty to see and the underwater layout means that you will see most of it.
Sunday 26th June - Selsey Lifeboat Station
Darren is also arranging a trip to Selsey to Dive the Lifeboat Station
This is a really easy shore dive with plenty of critters to see and if you are lucky you will see the family of cuttle fish!
Its free to park, free to get in and only a short walk from the place where you will park. You can dive as many times as you like and its easy to dive for an hour or more regardless of how good or bad your air consumption is!
Thursday 7th July - Club Quiz Night
Now that Summer is well and truly here its time to finally get in the water and club night is a great place to find some inspiration and a buddy
And what better way to vet your buddy than to check out just how clever they are!
All money raised from the event will go to the RNLI and the winning team gets to hold the Golden Snorkel for the next year.
Any Weekend!
We want to get in a lot more local cheap diving so keep an eye out to see who is up to what.
We will be organising some days out to dive Swanage Pier, Selsey Lifeboat station, Chesil Cove, Chepstow, Vobster and Stoney Cove. We may even venture over to Kent and try out Buckland.
If you fancy organising a trip (which simply entails you telling some people that you are going) then please jump in!
Facebook
There are plenty of people diving regularly with open invites coming from all angles!
Check out the facebook page to see what's going on and when...
Wednesday Evenings - Wraysbury
Don't forget the house reef! There are Wednesday evening dives going on most weeks as well as weekend splashes for anyone who fancies it.
Lundy 2011
It was the Spring Bank Holiday and our group of nine intrepid explorers headed down to Ilfracombe in Devon for a long weekend diving.
On the trip were Dave, Dave, Karen, Karen, Sharon, Collette, Steve, Lou and Stuart. Yes - it did get confusing!
It was a fantastic Trip and we went out with Obsession Charters on the incredible Obsession 11. The crew were Leigh, Stuart and Ron and they helped to make it a magical weekend.
A big Club thanks to all involved!
This video was taken from the last dive. Following this dive no one remembered the previous two days bad weather. It's 12 mins long and well worth watching,
but if you want edited highlights then 2 mins 30 and 9 mins are the places to head.
Big thanks to Steve Bryson for shooting and editing this video and for letting us put it up on the site.
The pictures are in no particular order other than they way they appear on the page. The pictures are displayed un-edited and were taken on a point and shoot by Sharon. They are here simply for you to see why the trip is still being talked about...
Steve, Dave, Collette, Karen, Sharon, Lou, Dave, Karen and Stu. And the big debate - which way up should a Poseidon first stage go?!
Steve and Dave finding something funny.
Dave, Karen and Stu enjoying the ride regardless of the weather. This was on the way out to the Island where it was still a little chilly, ever so slightly wet and a little bit blowy!
Did we mention that there were dolphins on the way over to the island? There were loads of pictures taken but in all of the excitement only a few actually contained dolphins!
So near yet so far... this was so nearly the picture it was supposed to be!
The first dive was on the site of two wrecks the Robert and the Iona. The later is a protected wreck and can only be dived with a liscense.
This was an incredible dive in the 20-30m range and the viz was glorious. Sadly it was too good to waste time taking photos so here is a jellyfish pic that was taken on the safety stop!
So now we get to the seal dive. By now the rain had stopped, the sun had come out, the sea was flat calm and everyone on the boat was fed and watered.
Looking at these three photos I would say that Karen was well and truly mugged!
Circling...
Got ya! Hand over the sardines lady!
It would seem that seals love fins...
Or is it a Hollis advert?
Or do seals endorse Hollis fins?
Well this one seems to be smiling regardless of his contractural obligations
But one thing you can be sure of is that they are bitey little buggers and have some PROPER teeth in there!
After the dive it was time to enjoy some sunshine and head back. There was a lot to look back on that day - not just the incredible diving but some excellent company too
Clearly Steve and Collette are visualising their next dives....
This is the legend that is Stuie - one of the crew on Obsession II and also the Ilfracombe Lifeboat (He's one of the lifeboat crew, not the actual lifeboat). If you are in Ilfracombe and ever need rescuing by the RNLI then you can see that you are in very safe hands!
Once again a massive DIVE360 Dive Club thanks to all those involved in this trip. And a final thanks to Vix for organising such a top weekend!
Until next time - and dive safe.
