Events at a glance
Saturday 18th June - Chepstow
Darren Hawkins is arranging a trip to Chepstow on the 18th June. Fairly informal but a great way to get some dives in in a nice controlled environment.
The guys are meeting from about 9am onwards and would love it if you would care to join them. Diving from 8m to 80m (yes really!)
£15 for the day and the viz is usually pretty good. There is plenty to see and the underwater layout means that you will see most of it.
Sunday 26th June - Selsey Lifeboat Station
Darren is also arranging a trip to Selsey to Dive the Lifeboat Station
This is a really easy shore dive with plenty of critters to see and if you are lucky you will see the family of cuttle fish!
Its free to park, free to get in and only a short walk from the place where you will park. You can dive as many times as you like and its easy to dive for an hour or more regardless of how good or bad your air consumption is!
Thursday 7th July - Club Quiz Night
Now that Summer is well and truly here its time to finally get in the water and club night is a great place to find some inspiration and a buddy
And what better way to vet your buddy than to check out just how clever they are!
All money raised from the event will go to the RNLI and the winning team gets to hold the Golden Snorkel for the next year.
Any Weekend!
We want to get in a lot more local cheap diving so keep an eye out to see who is up to what.
We will be organising some days out to dive Swanage Pier, Selsey Lifeboat station, Chesil Cove, Chepstow, Vobster and Stoney Cove. We may even venture over to Kent and try out Buckland.
If you fancy organising a trip (which simply entails you telling some people that you are going) then please jump in!
Facebook
There are plenty of people diving regularly with open invites coming from all angles!
Check out the facebook page to see what's going on and when...
Wednesday Evenings - Wraysbury
Don't forget the house reef! There are Wednesday evening dives going on most weeks as well as weekend splashes for anyone who fancies it.
Meet the Team...
At DIVE360, we have a team of dedicated and hardworking Instructors & Divemasters. They are all passionate about diving and about ensuring the best possible experience for you at all times.
Gareth Fearn - DIVE360 Owner
Staff Instructor
Diving since: 2005
Where Dived: UK including - Lundy Island, Plymouth,Portland, Chepstow & Wraysbury. Egypt - Sharm El Sheikh, Brothers, Hurghada. Tunisia and Galapagos
Best dive: Galapagos - eagle rays, dolphins, manta rays, mobula rays pilot whales & hammerhead city!
Most embarrassing moment: I'm not telling!
Favourite dive moment: Signing off my first ever student diver. It was a great feeling of achievement!
Best thing about DIVE360: It would have to be the team. Nothing is ever too much trouble.
Top diving tip: Only diving can make you a diver. Do the training, but more importantly, go out and dive!
Kevin Linsell - Staff Instructor
Diving since: 2005
Where Dived: UK, Australia, Red Sea, Portugal, Greece, Gozo, Bahamas & Jamaica
Best dive: Red Sea (fish variety), Scapa Flow (wrecks) - who says UK diving is boring?!
Most embarrassing moment: Fell off a RIB into the Red Sea with no air in BCD - a bit too eager maybe!
Favourite dive moment: Oceanic Whitetip in the Red Sea - within touching distance. Oh.. and reading the words 'Welcome to my world' on Paul Toomer's slate at 60m on our recent trimix course.
Best thing about DIVE360: Great to work with - group of fun, enthusiastic people.
Top diving tip: Plan the dive & dive the plan. Enjoy every moment and stay safe.
Claire Samuel - MSDT Instructor
Diving since: 2000
Where Dived: Lord Howe Island, Malta & Gozo, Cyprus, Bermuda, Galapagos, Argentina, Brasil, Easter Island, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Caribbean, Hawaii, Mexico
and now the UK! Brrrggghhh
Best dive: Too many to choose just one! Top 3... French Polynesia - the sheer number of fish, sharks, turtles and manta
rays on every dive! Also having Orca's swim past on a dive in NZ and cave diving in Brazil just spectacular.
Most embarrassing moment: Demonstrating PADI's scuba unit removal underwater and managing to demonstrate bikini top
removal at the same time, good old velco!
Favourite dive moment: Everytime I take a student out for their first open water and they squeal at the excitement of seeing fish.
Best thing about DIVE360: Friendly and welcoming to all levels. Just a great bunch of people that want to dive and have fun.
Top diving tip: Relax - know your equipment, skills and dive slowly. Take your time and get up close to see things. You'll get to the stage when the little things you find down there may be more
interesting than big old sharks......
Paul Toomer - Course Director, Technical Instructor
Diving since: Adam was a lad
Where Dived: Anywhere deep
Best dive: The next one...
Most embarrassing moment: Yeah like right...
Favourite dive moment: Passing Kev and Gareth my slate at 60m with the imortal words 'Welcome to my world' when they successfully
completed the Tec Trimix course
Best thing about DIVE360: Geoff Vader
Top diving tip: Sentinal - No bubbles, no troubles
Gary Barnett - IANTD Normoxic/Technical Diver - Dive Master
Diving since: 2003
Where Dived: Egypt, Jordan, Malta, Gozo, Maldives, UK
Best dive: Meeting Mantas and whale sharks for the first time, very humbling
Most embarrassing moment: I've been very lucky so far, it's normally others who have their moments when I'm around (
Craig, Des, Colin and Vix), although, I must be due one!!
Favourite dive moment: Watching Louise pass her open water. Louise had a real fear of water, so much so she wouldn't
even get her face wet in the shower! 5 years on, she is now a very accomplished Dive Master and role model for others.
Best thing about DIVE360: Great bunch of people, what more could you want!
Top diving tip: Dive safe, know your equipment, know your skills and know your ability!
You can't buy experience, you have to undergo it, so take your time, relax and most of all enjoy it.
Vicky Curtis - Dive Master
Diving since: 2004
Where Dived: Egypt lots, Jordan, Maldives, Malta, Gozo, Cyprus, Turkey and of course the lovely UK!
Best dive: Oceanic mantas in the maldives - they're massive!!
Most embarrassing moment: Whilst being ever so slightly competitive (unlike me I know!) I swam head first into an
underwater light in a swimming pool in the Maldives whilst on a diving holiday (I had my eyes shut). My so called friends
nearly gave themselves hernias they were laughing so hard. Thanks guys for caring so much - you know who you are!!!
Favourite dive moment: aving an oceanic white tip shark with pilot fish come join us for our safety stop under the
boat on the Brothers islands - Cool! Or was it watching nice Craigy have to choose between eating chocolate or breathing whilst
trying to master underwater 'fruit and nut' eating? Breathing or chocolate what would you choose?
Best thing about DIVE360: Me... Naturally!
Top diving tip: Don't try to eat chocolate underwater - especially cadbury's fruit and nut. Hazelnuts and regulators don't mix.
